From the Desk of Principal Hoover

The purpose of this newsletter is to share information regarding the Jefferson County JVS.

Dear Parents and Guardians,

We are off to a wonderful start to the 2026–2027 school year! After three exciting days last week, our classrooms and labs are already filled with energy, enthusiasm, and students eager to learn. It has been wonderful to see our students settling into their programs, connecting with their classmates, and beginning to experience the hands-on learning that makes Career and Technical Education so special.

Our dedicated staff have been working hard to create engaging learning experiences that challenge students, build confidence, and help them discover what they are capable of achieving. As the year gets underway, our students will have opportunities to develop technical skills, earn industry-recognized certifications, work on hands-on projects, and begin building the knowledge and experiences that will prepare them for their future careers and continued education.

While our first few days have given us a great start, we know there is so much more ahead! September will bring new learning opportunities, activities, experiences, and accomplishments for our students, as well as CPR and OSHA Trainings. We are excited to watch them step outside their comfort zones, embrace new challenges, and discover the possibilities that their chosen programs have to offer.

We are looking forward to a fantastic year filled with growth, learning, and success. Thank you for your continued support of your child and of our JVS community. It is a privilege to partner with you as we help prepare our students for the next step in their education, careers, and lives.

We are excited to welcome back Andy Long to our school community as our Dean of Students!
Andy is no stranger to our school, and we are thrilled to have him returning to a community he knows and cares about. During his time with us previously, Andy built strong relationships with students, staff, and families, and we are excited to see those relationships continue to grow in his new role.
As Dean of Students, Andy will work closely with students and staff to support student success, foster positive relationships, promote a strong school culture, and help ensure that every student feels supported and connected.
We are especially excited to welcome Andy back because of the energy, experience, and genuine care for students that he brings to our school. His familiarity with our community, combined with his passion for helping students thrive, will make him a wonderful addition to our leadership team.

Welcome back, Andy! We are so excited to have you with us again and look forward to all that you will bring to our school community. We know our students and staff are going to be excited to see a familiar face back in the halls!

We are excited to welcome our newest staff members to the JVS family! This year, we are fortunate to have both new CTE instructors and academic staff joining our team, bringing fresh perspectives, experiences, and expertise to our school community. 
We can't wait to see the positive impact they will have on our students and the programs they will help strengthen.

Why Uniforms?

Because Professionalism Begins Here.
Career Technical Education is about more than preparing students for their next step, it is about preparing them for the expectations of the professional world.
At the JVS, our students spend each day developing real-world skills, working with industry-standard equipment, and learning from instructors who prepare them for careers beyond high school. Adding uniforms to our school culture is another step toward building those professional habits.
Uniforms promote pride, consistency, and a strong sense of belonging. They remind our students that when they walk through our doors, they are not just students, they are future technicians, healthcare professionals, entrepreneurs, skilled tradespeople, and leaders.
As we implement this new policy, students are expected to be in uniform each day. We are proud of who our students are becoming, and are excited to continue building a culture where students look, feel, and act like professionals.

To ensure our students can make the most of their hands-on learning, it’s important that they have uninterrupted time in their labs. A key step in allowing them to fully participate is completing FinalForms. Please take a few moments to complete and update all required forms so your student can stay focused on their program and not miss out on valuable lab experiences. Students are permitted to dress down on Friday's.

Please remember to follow the guidance found in your student handbook, as rules still apply.

JVS School Wide CPR Training

Every student at the JVS will trained and certified in CPR during the month of September. 

JVS High Bay OSHA Training

Students who participate in our High Bay labs will receive training and certifications in OSHA 10 during the month of September.
